Dutch Rabbit

Recognized for the distinctive patterns on their fur, Dutch Rabbits are some of the most popular rabbits around today! Their eyes have that strong and bold marble appearance and their bodies are smooth and compact with ears that stand straight up behind them. Their glossy fur is relatively easy to take care of and mainly grooms itself with the help of a damp hand or a comb now and again.
This distinctive breed originated from rabbits being imported from Holland to England for the meat market back in the 1830’s. The English breeders started choosing the ones with the distinctive dutch markings and developing them into the ones we see today.
Ranging between 3.3. and 5.5 pounds, they make great pets provided they are given a large space to play in and plenty of toys!
They are also very popular as show rabbits and are subdivided into categories based on colour. Although the colours may vary, the white markings remain similar and the perfection of these markings is what comes under scrutiny if you are considering a Dutch rabbit as a show animal.
